Paloh Beach is the longest turtle nesting beach in Indonesia.
In addition, Paloh Beach is included in the Regional Waters Conservation Area in accordance with Regional Regulation of West Kalimantan Province Number 1 of 2019 concerning Zoning Plans for Coastal Areas and Small Islands of West Kalimantan Province.
Along the 63 km Paloh Beach is a turtle nesting habitat.
Based on Pontianak BPSPL enumeration data since 2016, the types of turtles found are the Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas), the Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricate),
and the Lekang Turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea).
The dominant turtle found was the green turtle. It was recorded that more than 2,000 landed each year, even in 2019 there were 4,000 Green Turtles that landed.
In order to maintain its sustainability, a hatchery has been provided at the monitoring post as a place for relocating turtle eggs.
Turtle eggs that successfully hatch into hatchlings will later be released back into the sea.
2 Days 1 Night trip from Pontianak City, we will take you to get to know turtles more closely, directly at the West Kalimantan turtle hatchery located in Paloh District, Sambas Regency.
Here you can carry out monitoring activities / watch turtles lay their eggs at night, release newly hatched baby turtles (TUKIK), feel the sensation of sucking fresh natural kelulut honey straight from their nests, and can also play four-wheeled motorbikes (ATVs).
The most turtle nesting time is from MAY to NOVEMBER, after that there are few in number.
By taking this trip you can feel the atmosphere closer to nature and the beach, STAYCATION enjoys views of the open sea, SOUTH NATUNA SEA, and sunset views from the beach.
There is no lodging available at this Monitoring Post, following this trip you can stay at a Conservation Camp Hut, or in a Tents that can be set up in the Camping Ground area that has been provided.
The trip packages that we provide are only TRANSPORT from Pontianak, by car, fuel, and drivers who double as tourist guides, we also bring a BIG DOME Tents that can be used at the Camping Ground if needed, fits up to 6 people.
